A children’s book that helps kids understand their story with honesty, connection, and love.

The Love Tree gives families language for belonging — in adoption, foster care, kinship care, blended, surrogate, donor-conceived families & more.

Why I wrote this book
Families come in many different forms. When my adopted child struggled with a traditional family tree assignment that didn’t work for our unique family, it gently revealed something deeper—there are very few children’s books that honor adoption in inclusive, affirming ways, especially when openness is part of a child’s story. I wrote The Love Tree to offer something different: a way for children to celebrate their families without having to choose, explain, or leave anyone out.
I'm Katie, a pediatric RN with a passion for supporting child-centered relationships between first, foster & adoptive families.
Whether you’re a foster, adoptive, kinship, blended, or biological family, The Love Tree helps you build openness, connection, and shared language.
